Here's How It Works:

The program is based on the normal shopping habits of our parishioners. Instead of using cash to make purchases, we use SCRIP Certificates purchased from IHM. Well-known, local and nationally franchised retailers, restaurants and supermarkets issue these gift certificates. For each certificate purchased, IHM can earn up to 10% of the face value of the certificate (between 5% and 9% for most).

To purchase the certificates display and print the order form. The Scrip listed on the "On Hand-Order Form" can be picked up during office hours. The Scrip listed on the "Pre-Order Form" will be ordered by IHM and can be picked up later. You may print the order form and mail or bring the order form and your check to IHM. You can pick up the certificates after mass, during PSR or in the office.

Just How Much Can We Make?

If each family spends only $100 per week on groceries, that totals $5200 per year. If SCRIP certificates were used to make these purchases, (at a rate of 4% donation to IHM), IHM would receive $208.00! The profit is sent to IHM when the certificates are purchased, not when they are used.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Where can I use the certificates I purchase?
A. Each certificate is specific to the merchant listed on it. The certificates can be used at all local and national locations listed on the certificate.

Q. Do the certificates have an expiration date?
A. Yes, normally 12 months, but some are longer.

Q. Can I order certificates for other members of my family, friends or relatives?
A. Yes, the more households ordering the certificates, the greater the donation amount your organization will receive.

Q. Can I give the certificates as gifts, or to the needy, as well as using them myself?
A. Yes, the certificates are completely transferable.

Q. If I lose or misplace my certificates, can they be replaced?
A. No, the certificates should be treated like cash.

Q. Will participating merchants provide change?
A. Each store has its own policy in regard to this.

Q. Are there minimum purchase requirements when I order certificates?
A. No, you may order as many or as few certificates, as often as you would like or need.

Q. Can I use the gift certificates with any other coupon, discount or special offer the merchant has?
A. Absolutely! With the exception of gratuities, the certificates are used the same as cash.

Q. Can I use the certificates to pay on my merchant credit card account?
A. We recommend that you talk to a manager at the store about their policy regarding this before buying certificates for this purpose.
